Dr Shujah Khan is a UK-trained Consultant Psychiatrist registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on the UK Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Addiction Psychiatry. He qualified at Aga Khan University in Karachi and holds an MSc in Global Mental Health from the University of Glasgow.

His clinical experience spans community, crisis and inpatient psychiatry, addiction services and independent practice, including clinical leadership in addiction psychiatry. He has also held medical leadership roles with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in Pakistan.

Dr Khan works with patients experiencing mood, anxiety and trauma-related conditions, substance-use disorders, ADHD, autism and other complex psychiatric presentations. He has a particular interest in complex presentations, particularly where symptoms cross diagnostic boundaries, previous assessments have differed, or treatment has not produced the expected improvement. His approach considers how a person’s difficulties have developed over time, alongside psychological, neurodevelopmental, substance-related, cultural and social factors, and combines this with evidence-based psychopharmacology.

He offers comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management and ongoing or consultation-based care, and has an interest in interventional and emerging approaches in psychiatry, including TMS and ketamine. Dr Khan consults in English, Urdu, Pashto and Hindi and welcomes referrals for general and complex psychiatric presentations.
